As blog readers know, candidate McCain has gathered exposure for his claim that he will reduce budget deficits to zero within his first term (although sometimes he says by the end of his second term) at the same time that he intends to make the gargantuan Bush tax cuts permanent (that's a lot of corporate and ultra-rich tax cuts, folks) AND add another basket full of tax cuts--especially for corporations (and derivatively, for their wealthy owners and managers).
Economists for Obama has an interesting excerpt from tax talk between McCain and Roberts on CNN about this purported budget "proposal" which doesn't seem to add up to anything but a whopping deficit: McCain still lying or ignorant about the effect of tax cuts. (Thanks to Economist's View for pointing out this link.)
It turns out that, when pushed by persistent press questioning, McCain ultimately defended his ideas with that old shibboleth that tax cuts pay for themselves. We all know that isn't true. How come McCain can't figure that out?
