We learn today just another piece in the military-industrial dictatorship that Bush-Cheney very nearly installed in this country. It turns out that Bush considered sending troops to arrest the Lackawanna Six. Mazzettu and Johnston, Bush-Era Debate: Using G.I.'s in U.S., NY Times, July 24, 2009. Cheney, the would-be kingmaker, thought it would be fine to violate the constitution, since he wanted the "unitary powers" of the president as "commander-in-chief" to essentially provide dictatorial rule.
When are we going to realize how important it is to act when these things are happening to protest them, and to act later to punish them. We should end the glaring failure to investigate and perhaps arrest the Bush Administration lackeys--from Cheney to Addington to Yoo--who initiated a regime that condoned and engaged in torture, withheld information from Congress and the American people, and misused government funds to create "black prison" sites abroad while pretending to be reporters to spread propaganda for their positions.
