As everyone knows by now, the recent earthquake in Haiti left a nation in shambles, without adequate food, water, or shelter for thousands and with the dead literally literring the landscape and polluting the air and water for those lucky enough to survive. The impact was similar to Aceh Province's tsunami death and damage. Various organizations have rushed to assist, from the U.S. armed forces to small missionary groups. Every bit of assistance is needed.
If you haven't contributed to one of the organizations providing much needed medical and food assistance, you can still do so by February 28 and be able to take the deduction on your 2009 tax return. Don't delay. We enjoy so much and the harm to Port au Prince makes the World Trade Center calamity look very small indeed.
